Locked Out
The Hook
Tom Matthews is an ex Spec Ops solider, with a dark past where he made many enemies and he perhaps made one too many. Tom has tired move on from his past and is now a regular working husband, who is providing for his soon to be family of three. But his whole life turns into a nightmare when he is wrongly accused or possibly even framed for the murder of his own wife.
It was typical cold, dark winters night in New York City, New York. Tom Matthews had just finished work and began walking home. Upon reaching his house he opened the gate, to enter his garden, he heard a smash and a loud scream coming from his house. He sprinted into the house to find his wife lying on the kitchen floor covered in blood.
He fell to the floor and clutched her arms hoping and praying she was still breathing.
In the distance he could sirens wailing, as they drew closer he ran out, covered in blood, into the street to get their attention: "Help! I need some help!" He yelled.
Instead of helping Tom, the cops tackled him to the ground and cuffed him.
"What are you doing?!" Tom questioned, furiously.
"Tom Matthews, you are under arrest for the murder of Rachel Matthews. You have the right to remain silent. If you give up the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."
Tom protested and tried to fight his way out of the officers grasp but to no avail. He was thrown in the back of the police van and drove to the police station left wondering what would happen to his wife.
The Genre
The genre of my game follows the pattern of many Rockstar titles, it is an open world, free roaming, Action game. Of course, the world isn't as big as some Rockstar games due to the fact you're in prison but it follows the same game-play style. My game is most similar to Rockstars' Bully: Scholarship edition in a way of a smaller open world map with curfews which you may choose to stick to or not. Even though Locked Out is an Action game it also has hints of different types of genres in it, one example is Stealth. The Stealth part of the game is crucial when it comes to sneaking past the guards after hours or in restricted area, as well as the fellow inmates that are just a big a problem if you're caught where you shouldn't be. The ability to dump the guards bodies and steal their clothing to blend in with the other guards without getting too close so they recognise you is great feature used in Hitman Absolution and will be a vital part of the stealth aspect of Locked Out.
Target Audience
My target audience, based on Pegi, will be 18+. My game will involve; Violence, Bad Language, Drugs, Sexual Content. My game will primarily be targeted towards males because of the different types of action that are involved, for example; the fights that take place in the game, with all the different weapons available, can be brutal. The fighting, killing, stealth and action is something that will attract the males to my game. Even though the game will be rated 18+ my game will catch the attention of males of all ages. The story line of "A man wrongly accused for the murder of his wife" is something that could attract the female players to the game. Locked Out has little for everybody with it's "movie like" story line but with all the action that takes place my main target audience will be males.
Similar Games On The Market
The games out there similar to mine would be; Bully: Scholarship Edition, GTA, Hitman, Splinter Cell and Max Payne. I based my game on these play styles because they are very successful games and in some cases a very successful series. These are also some of my favourite games I have ever played and the games I had some of the most fun on, too. These games have such a great and unique play style that others have tried to replicate, such as Saints Row and Deus Ex. I think with these games having their own individual qualities, such as; Bully having a schedule you can choose to stick to or face consequences if you're caught, Hitman having the ability to steal disguises to blend in and Splinter Cell having it's in depth stealth action, if all those qualities were rolled into 1 game it would be great. Another I chose these games is because they also have a little something for everyone which is what I think helped to make them so successful.

Target Platforms
There are many different platforms available to release my game on, such as; Xbox 360, PS4, PS Vita and Nintendo Wii but the platforms I am aiming to release my game on is the next generation of consoles; Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. I aim to release my game on these platforms to take advantage of the next gen graphics and also the excellent graphics on a PC. The reason I don't want to release my game on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is because I want my game to be up-to-date and look towards the future rather than past generations of consoles. The visuals on the next generation consoles, and of course PC, are phenomenal. I want my first game of the series to be something to remember and I feel the Xbox One, PS4 and PC will help make that happen.
